The campus is shared with the University of Falmouth, which creates a vibrant mix of students from science, engineering, humanities, and arts backgrounds.
Our interdisciplinary research specialisms are in law and business (including the future of work and evidence-based professional practice), environmental law, and justice and maritime law.
What is it like to be a student at University of Exeter Law School Cornwall?
Kirty, LLB Law with Business
I have gained an understanding of how the law works in context through the practical nature of the degree as well as its interdisciplinary approach. The practicality of the course equips you with the skills needed to thrive. This was highlighted to me at a recent event where students from other universities had never been taught how to interview clients or negotiate.
Every single lecturer knows me by name and is always willing to offer help and advice. My academic tutor is eager to help me thrive both personally and professionally.
All in all, I love my course and I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I have been given so far.
Emma, Flamank Law Committee Member
Studying law on the Penryn Campus has allowed to me to combine my two separate passions: the beautiful Cornish environment and all things law! I have found the experience incredibly active, with so many opportunities available to get involved with legal work in the local community and further afield. I feel very lucky to have such engaging lecturers who know every face in the room, no one gets lost in the crowd!
Anton, LLB Law with Business Student
The dual honours increases employability and commercial awareness, which is becoming more important for lawyers over time. All the lecturers are more than happy to take time out in order to help you with any problems you may have and my cohort are not from only just around the country but also around the globe. Also being close to the beach as it acts as a good stress reliever.
Tegan, LLB Law with Business Student
I love that LLB Law with Business at the Penryn Campus is so practical- something that is not so prominent in other law degrees. We’ve taken part in mock employment tribunals and court cases, which has really helped to develop: confidence, knowledge and understanding of practicalities of the law.
Abbie, LLB Law with Business with Professional Placement student
Studying Law alongside Business provides an insight into the structure and challenges of businesses in the modern day, alongside the foundations of corporate and commercial law. This is unique to the Cornwall Campus law degree gaining invaluable business and commercial awareness, whilst learning the law and the interrelationships between the two. Which will undoubtedly be of exceptional use for myself, as someone aspiring for a career in corporate or commercial law. In addition to this, the course offers a professional placement providing experience to the legal work environment, whilst consolidating and practicing my legal knowledge learnt at University.
Penryn campus feels like a home-from-home. It’s a friendly community feel, with seminars and lectures only being a short walk from my flat. Personally, it is the perfect size with all the necessary facilities being in the nearby area, without feeling intimidating or overwhelming like other campuses. Additionally I love being surrounded by nature, the countryside and the beach. Especially as a trip to Falmouth only takes 5-10 minutes on a bus.
Heinrich, LLB Law with Business (International Student Hong Kong)
I enjoy that LLB Law with Business offers a unique learning opportunity by combining the two principles together. It’s particularly great for me as I have an interest in going into corporate/commercial law. Lecturers are always supportive and helpful all the time. I’ve made a lot of friends, have settled in well… and of course it’s nice to be near the beach!
George, LLB Law with Business (International Student Switzerland)
I enjoy the multifaceted approach taught by lecturers on the LLB Law with Business course, who have a genuine interest with the subject and a connection with the students. The course is practical and problem solving as opposed to theoretical, it’s much appreciated
My cohort are a diverse group of people with similar interests and ambitions. The smaller size also helps to make friendships effortless. The Cornwall campus is so enjoyably green, plus you will always see someone you know to chat with.
