This module will give you an in-depth knowledge of the international and European law framework for the regulation of international migration and the legal, political and conceptual problems associated with it. You will start by examining the problems of regulating international migration including state sovereignty and the politics of migration. You will go on to study the main international and European law instruments in this area, including in the areas of nationality, deprivation of citizenship and statelessness; human rights; refugees; protection of the vulnerable (e.g. victims of trafficking); EU free movement law; migrants travelling by sea; migrant workers; family life across national boundaries.
