Our programmes
Undergraduate
At Exeter our LLB programmes ensure you are prepared for the challenges a future career will bring. Our teaching offers you a rigorous understanding of legal principles as well as an examination of law in different theoretical and social contexts. Our degrees are flexible with a wide range of optional modules in your second and final years, as well as the opportunity spend a year on placement within the legal profession or to spend a year studying at a European University.
Postgraduate Taught
We invite you to join a very dynamic and vibrant academic environment which attracts students from all over the world. Led by renowned and passionate experts with a breadth of experience in academia, policy-making and legal practice.
You will study cutting- edge subjects with real world impact. You will learn to reflect globally on key contemporary legal challenges, to think critically and creatively, and to present robust legal arguments. By studying with us, you will acquire all the skills you need to succeed.
We offer a range of LLM programmes - which you are able to tailor-make according to your academic interests and/or professional needs.
Postgraduate Research
The Law School offers a wide spectrum of legal expertise, ranging from Commercial to Family and International Law. Our researchers examine a variety of legal issues, including those arising from current technological, environmental, and political changes, both domestically and internationally. We employ a variety of research methods, including socio-legal, doctrinal, and comparative approaches.
As a research student, you will become part of a vibrant research community and receive expert guidance from experienced supervisors. Additionally, you'll have access to outstanding facilities such as our Law Library and PGR Suite to support your studies.
We have a range of postgraduate research programmes in Law based at our Exeter (Streatham) and Cornwall campuses.
Legal training
Students planning a career in law can complete both the academic stage of their training and the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Exeter thanks to an innovative collaboration with the University of Law (ULaw).
We can now also accept Tier 4 visas from international students who wish to study with us at Exeter. Further information on visa requirements can be found on our dedicated page.
Legal Practice Course (LPC)
The LPC is the vocational stage of the training for those wishing to become solicitors.
You can study the LPC if, on or before 31 August 2021, you completed, started, accepted an offer, or paid a non-refundable deposit for one of the following:
- the LLB
- the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) / the Common Professional Examination
- the MA Law
- the Legal Practice Course (LPC)
- a period of recognised training (also known as a training contract)
