This module focuses on the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). The ECHR sets the basis of the most advanced and complex regional system of protection of human rights in the world. The exceptional development of this system relies to a large extent on the judicial activism shown by the European Court of Human Rights.  Accordingly, this module will provide you with the necessary knowledge and analytical skills to examine critically the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights and its methods of interpretation. It will also give you the opportunity to assess critically the main developments of the protection of human rights at the European level vis-à-vis the domestic application of the core provisions of the ECHR. Given the diversity of the areas covered by the protection of human rights by the ECHR, this module is also suitable for students with various backgrounds in public or private law. This module is recommended to aspiring practitioners and academics alike.
