Aileen Kimuhu

 

I am a dedicated PGR Researcher with a strong academic background, holding a First Class LLB (2014) and an LLM (2018) with Distinction from the University of Reading. While at Reading, I was also rewarded "Outstanding Postgraduate Student Prize by the University of Reading for her consistently excellent academic performance, and insightful thesis.

 

 

Currently pursuing an MPhil/DPhil in Law at the University of Exeter, my research centres on the use of cultural and intellectual property to redefine the boundaries of citizenship in Kenya. I am also particularly interested in the interplay between culture, history, identity, and the legal domain. Some of my published works in Democracy for Africa, The Continent or the Nuruba Institute touch on the construction of identity, the dangers of colonial legacies and misremeberings, and the obligations of diasporic Africans in the 21st Century.

 

 

I bring a range of skills to my work, including proficiency in research, writing, effective communication, and teaching. My previous roles encompass a diverse range of experiences, from political strategy and education to marketing and writing for both eCommerce startups and non-profit organizations.

 

With an impressive academic and professional background, I am poised to make significant contributions to the fields of law, culture, and intellectual property. My passion for research and dedication to exploring the complex interactions between law and culture, specifically, and learning, more broadly, make me a valuable asset to any academic or professional endeavour.
