Amy joined Exeter Law School in September 2023. Amy module convenes Graduate LLB Contract Law and is the current Director for LLB Studies. She also teaches on the Business and the Human Rights module; she also module convenor and teaches on the LLM Module: International Arbitration.
Amy is interested in experiential learning with a particular focus on the attainment gap and widening participation. She also enjoys experimenting with new methods of technology-enhanced learning. Amy is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, having completed her Diploma in Teaching in Higher Education in 2015.
Biography:
Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Amy was previously a Senior Lecturer at UWE (Bristol) for over 8 years, having module-convened: Law of Torts (LLB) and Globalisation and the Law (LLM). Amy also taught on the following modules: The Law of Contract (LLB); Dissertation (LLB); Research Methods (LLM); Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (LLM); Natural Resources Law (LLM).
In 2021, Amy successfully completed her PhD. The PhD thesis was an examination of: foreign direct investment and inclusive development in the context of Sino-African relations. Her thesis critiqued the current international investment law framework in the context of the public interest and development with particular regard for the China-Ethiopia and China-Tanzania context. Amy holds an LLM degree in International Commercial Law (University of Birmingham).
Before Amy became an academic, she worked as a risk analyst/legal researcher for over 4 years – advising corporations on their operations in the context of human rights/political risk, corporate social responsibility, and business and human rights.
