Courtney's research specialises in criminal and human rights law and its application to developments in image-based sexual abuse, specifically the generation of IBSA using nudification tools and deepfake technologies. Courtney's current research also adopts a comparative approach and incorporates feminist theories and methodologies.
Courtney is a PhD candidate in law funded by the Economic and Social Research Council at the University of Exeter through the South West Doctoral Training Partnership. She is interested in the intersections of law, technology and feminism. She received a Bachelor of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience from Memorial University in Canada, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Exeter and a Master of Research in Socio-Legal Research from the University of Exeter.
Courtney is a member of the University of Exeter's Human Rights and Democracy Forum, Science, Culture and Law, and the Exeter Centre for International Law.
