Dr Charlotte Bishop returned to Exeter Law School in October 2024 after two years as Associate Professor at Reading University. Prior to this Charlotte had been at Exeter since starting her PhD in 2010. Charlotte researches gender-based violence, with a specific focus on law and policy relating to domestic abuse and coercive control. Charlotte is currently Primary Investigator on the AHRC-funded project "Rethinking Maternal Responsibility: Prosecuting ‘Failures to Protect’ and the Criminalisation of Domestic Abuse Victim-Survivors" (2026-2028). She is also the Law School Senior Tutor and has a strong interest in developing and supporting assessment literacy and the development of inclusive and accessible feedback practices.
