James is a full-time lecturer. His research interests are in the development of pensions law and policy. He is particularly interested in corporate responsibility for occupational pension schemes and the role of pensions in society.
He is interested in interdisciplinary and international perspectives on pensions and is a member of the European Network for Research on Supplementary Pensions and the Society of Legal Scholars.
James trained at a commercial law firm in London, after qualification he practised as a pensions lawyer at a commercial firm in Bristol. His PhD was awarded in 2018 and he has been involved with legal education and research for several years.

Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, (Legal Practice Course) at the College of Law, London Bloomsbury (2007-2008)
Member of the Law Society, admitted to the roll of solicitors (2010)
PhD entitled 'What is the proper role for the European Union in Occupational Pensions in the UK' awarded by the University of Bristol (2018)
