Matthew Cole is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter. He has a bredth of research interests, mainly focusing on areas of law that have economic objectives. He has particular interests in EU competition law, Ordoliberalism and takeover regulation. More broadly speaking he also has interests in corporate governance and economic theory generally.
Biography:
Dr Matthew Cole studied the BVC and was called to the Bar in 2008. He then worked for two law firms as an advocate before returning to academia to study his masters in Cardiff University. After this he studied for his doctorate, being funded by both a 125 Scholarship and an AHRC scholarship. In support of his doctoral research he was awarded an AHRC RTSG that allowed him to carry out a research visit to Universtät Freiburg, Germany. He then worked as lecturer in Cardiff University before moving to the University of Exeter. Since moving to Exeter he has undertaken leading research that has been published in top UK and European journals. He also presents his research at international conferences and workshops. Dr Cole has taught and led a number of modules both at UG and PG level. He is currently supervising a number of doctoral candidates.
