Saba Mokhtari is a PhD candidate at the University of Exeter Law School. Her interdisciplinary research, funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) through the South West Doctoral Training Partnership (SWDTP), explores the socio-legal and ecological dimensions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) framework governing renewable energy development.
Before joining the University of Exeter, she worked for nearly a decade as a bar-certified lawyer, advising clients on environmental law and land-use civil cases. She has also dedicated several years to pro bono legal work, providing guidance to NGOs and private companies on environmental and planning matters.
Saba holds a First Class LLB, an LLM in Maritime Law from the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law at the University of Oslo (2022), and an MRes in Social Science Research with distinction from the University of Exeter (2024).
