Mr. Temesgen is a Senior Academician, Researcher and Legal Practitioner. As a lecturer in law (lately at Wachemo University), he had, for the past decade, extensively taught and researched on refugee law, human rights law, law and development , environmental law, and international law, leading to over 10 research publications. He had also served as a research coordinator, seceretary of the law school research review committee, and a memebr of the institutional review board at Wachemo University. Besides, he is the founder of Wachemo University Environment and Natural Resources Law, Policy and Science Center. In addition, he had worked as a volunteer at Wachemo University Law School Free Legal Aid Center. He had also been practicing law as a licensed advocate. 

 

Mr. Temesgen has an LLM degree from the University of Warwick (a Russel Group and a top 10 University in the UK). He was the winner of the Warwick and Mekelle Universities Joiunt LLM Scholarship (2011 - 2013). He conducted his master's dissertation on climate change assistance. Moreover, he received his LLB degree from Jimma University (in 2008) ranking in the top two. He undertook his undergraduate research on states' responsibility for climate change under international law that received a certificate of appreciation for the best undergraduate research.  

 

As a PhD student, he investigates the protection of the property rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) with a particular focus on Ethiopia. The research seeks to examine if and to what extent the currently shampioned property rights remedies of IDPs (both under international and national laws) can provide an effectively protectection given the wider socio-legal and political contexts in which such normative remedies operate. He holds a strong conviction that he will, eventually, be able to incite policy changes so much so that IDPs can flourish within the society by regaining their lost properties.
