Overview
Dr.Özçayır is an associate professor of maritime law. She studied law at Dokuz Eylül University in İzmir, Turkey and continued her studies at Exeter University in England for her LLM and PhD in Maritime Law.
She is an experienced lawyer, trainer and lecturer. She has taught maritime law in Turkey and at Cardiff University Law School in England. She has published many articles on different aspects of maritime law in various journals. She is the author of two books; “Liability for Oil Pollution and Collisions” and “Port State Control” both published by Lloyd’s of London Press Ltd.
She is a member of the Editorial Board of Maritime Risk International and the editor of the IMO section of the Journal of International Maritime Law. She is a Member of İzmir Law Bar in Turkey. She works as a freelance maritime law consultant (www.lawofthesea.co.uk) both in the UK and Turkey. Dr Özçayır is a frequent speaker at international conferences.
