Biography
I am a retired Circuit Judge appointed in 2000; my main discipline was Family Law but I also sat in the Crown Court and the County Court trying civil work. In 2002 I was appointed the Nominated Judge of the Court of Protection for the South West. Before I became a Judge I was a pratising Barrister - where again I concentrated on Family work, taking silk in 1996.
I am a member of the Inner Temple and was appointed a Senior Bencher in 2007.
Having retired from the Bench I was invited to take up a part-time teaching post at Exeter University where I have concentrated on Legal Foundations, Criminal Law and Family Law. I have also been assisting students to become proficient in developing advocacy skills - judging moots, mock trials and chairing debates.
I am married to Liz, have 2 children, Anna a journalist and Will a Barrister; I have 5 grandcildren; I spend time with the family, gardening, walking, caring for a house in France, skiing and the church.
